The fundamental concepts of the project were the theme of landscape. They are inspired by the idealogy of raised and depressed surfaces juxtaposed side by side. The long narrow residential music retreat recalls nautical qualities with meandering internal landscapes, docked lightly on stilts by the banks of Loch Lomond. Contrastly, the retreat's performance provides a bold statement of the structure by the large spanning Glulam beams and cantilevering roof overhangs with v-bracing supports.
